This is my favourite way to make my house smell like a fall paradise. Just imagine the aroma of warm citrus, stewed apple, spicy cinnamon, fresh herbs, and a little vanilla. How amazing does that sound??
This is so much easier than you might think, and less expensive than a $30 candle. If you want your home to smell like fall with almost no thought (or budget) to it, you have to try this!
Fall Paradise Pot Ingredients
1 orange, sliced
1 apple, sliced
4 cinnamon sticks, or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
handful of fresh thyme or 1-2 teaspoons dried thyme
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups water
Step 1: Simmer Down & Enjoy
Add all ingredients into a dutch oven or soup pot. Bring to a boil over high heat and then bring down to a simmer. Let simmer for an hour or however long you'd like. Just don't let it run out of water!
Optional Alternatives
Of course, you can put pretty much anything you want in this concoction that you think would bring warmth and beautiful aromas to your home.
This is the guide I would follow if you want a well-rounded beautiful scent:
citrus: orange, lemon, grapefruit, lime
fruit: apple, peach, plum
spice: cinnamon, nutmeg
herbs: thyme, basil, mint
vanilla
6 cups water
